Glossary

The words the app and this documentation use, and what each one means.

Seismic data

Volume: One converted 3D seismic cube, the unit that horizons are picked on and products are run over.
Partial-stack group: A named set of two or more volumes of one survey, each a different angle or offset stack, sharing one grid.
Member: One volume of a partial-stack group.
Stack label: The name a member carries for its angle or offset range, such as near, mid, far or 05-15.
Horizon: A picked geological surface, one vertical position per grid cell, imported against one volume.
Ribbon: The fixed-length window of samples around a horizon on every trace, sliding with the horizon. Unpicked cells have no ribbon.

SpeQ-AVO: Mantis's sparse-spike inversion of one volume, or of a partial-stack group's members, over a horizon ribbon.
Inversion-AVO: AVO inversion over the members of a partial-stack group along one horizon. Its input is the members' amplitudes, never a SpeQ-AVO result.
Inversion-AVO extract: The artefact of one Inversion-AVO run holding every selected member's ribbon; the calculation's input.
Inversion-AVO result: The calculation's output for one Inversion-AVO run.
Reflectivity and AVO: The rock-physics screen that computes model-based reflectivity and Shuey AVO from layer properties. It never reads seismic data.
Run: One user-requested execution of a derived product over one horizon, tracked as a job until it completes or fails.
